Stockholm, Sweden. Thursday October 15th 2026 - You are a Vending Machine!

Decaying Games is proud to announce their first internal title, “A Vending Machine’s Daily Life”. In this hyper-local shop simulator the player inhabits a vending machine placed on a fictional street corner in a Japanese city. Players will vend, upgrade, and interact with the locals to become the vending machine of their dreams, or succumb to pure greed and capitalism should they choose to. With several end scenarios to discover, what they decide to stock up on will matter in the long run.

The game is being built by a very small but experienced team; with two main developers, only one of them is even working full-time on the project. Between them, they have a combined 20 years of experience and 14 launched games, including a few they worked on together.

Daniel “Dee-Kej” Kihlgren Kallander, founder of Decaying Games: “After 13 years in the industry, I’m excited to finally reveal a game that truly comes from my own heart, and that is simply trying to fill a slot we felt was missing. It’s only been a few weeks since I was able to move over to finally start working on the game full-time, and it was time to tell the world what we’re working on. The game is currently at an earlier stage than most others would have been comfortable with to reveal, but there was no longer any reason to keep the rest of development to ourselves, and we invite others to follow along from here.”

“Joining me for this project is friend and former coworker David Dessantis, a brilliant VFX artist without whom the game wouldn’t be possible. The two of us have been working on the game together ever since its very first concept of ‘what if you were a vending machine, but with anime bullsh*t?’. Which feels fitting, given that before being coworkers, we first met at a mutual friend’s anime night!”

Key Features:

  • A large variety of items to vend. The available items will be more than just the usual suspects; pay close attention to the world to be able to unlock some more obscure products.

  • Play at your own pace. Whether players prefer min-maxing or taking the scenic route, the game won’t punish them for it.

  • Customize! Players will be able to customize not only their vending machine selves, but also the area around them.

  • Interact with the locals. Fulfilling NPCs needs and wants will reveal more about them, and taking good care of the neighbourhood will provide helpful boons.

  • Several end goals to discover. Players will be free to progress towards a couple of different endings, some more obvious than others.

About Decaying Games

The one-man indie studio started in 2024 with one goal: to make games, and help others do the same. Building off the experience garnered through shipping eleven games across almost as many genres and having brandished various job titles in teams ranging from 3 to more than 300, the studio is looking to not only make great games on its own, but to share the knowledge gathered for others to build from as well.

Additional freelance team members:

Composer: Arnold Savary
Arnold Savary is a French musician, composer and producer. He released a solo piano album full of delicate chords and soft melodies, but does not shy away from a bass slap or a distorted guitar riff. He’s also watched his fair share of slice of life anime, a genre he's drawing from to make this vending machine story come to life.

Key Art and Logo artist: Tua Wester
Full-time animator by day and gamer by night. Occasional artist, baker and cat emoji enthusiast.

“A Vending Machine’s Daily Life” is fully self-funded and self-published.

Decaying Games and its partners for the game are all supporters of human-made games, and as such explicitly do not use GenAI in any of their processes.
